Photographs I shot for a
Gothamist feature on
American Museum of Natural History‘s first ever
Night At The Museum for Grownups (“
We Spent The Night At The Museum Of Natural History,” by
Jen Carlson). What a crazy shoot! While I was, indeed, provided a cot on which to slumber (perfectly positioned underneath the right eye of the big blue whale in the Milstein Hall of Ocean life), I did not get but a wink of sleep; I was up all night photographing the museum or hanging out with New York Times reporter,
Matt Flegenheimer, who was also there covering the event. We searched the museum far and wide to catch people having their way with one other on dinosaur humps, or riding the taxidermied elephants on acid, but alas, we were out of luck. There were reporters from many news outlets in attendance, including Gothamist’s very own,
Jen Carlson, all live tweeting the action through much of the evening. I live Instagrammed a very small portion of it (as evidenced
here,
here, and
here). At one point a USA Today reporter asked me to take a selfie with her and a dinosaur…as you do. I had to edit my photos by 12pm the following day so the entire experience is a bit of a blur now, but it was definitely one of the greatest work assignments I’ve ever received.
